Five Things We Look for During Every Mobile Patrol

A mobile patrol should be more than a vehicle driving through a property and leaving.

At Ten23Security, every patrol is an opportunity to identify problems before they become incidents. Our officers conduct a visible, physical inspection of the property and look for conditions that could create security or safety concerns.

Here are five things we look for during every mobile patrol:

1. Doors and Access Points

We check exterior doors, entrances, gates and other access points for signs of damage, forced entry, doors that have been left unsecured or anything else that appears unusual.

An unsecured door can turn a secure building into an easy target.

2. Signs of Trespassing or Suspicious Activity

Our officers look for people who shouldn’t be on the property, vehicles that appear out of place, loitering, unauthorized activity and other signs that something may not be right.

The goal isn’t simply to respond after something happens. It’s to identify potential problems early.

3. Parking Areas and Garages

Parking garages and exterior parking areas can be particularly vulnerable after hours.

During patrols, we look for suspicious vehicles, people on foot, property damage, broken gates, unsecured areas and other conditions that may require attention.

4. Building and Property Conditions

A patrol can also identify physical problems that affect security.

Broken lighting, damaged doors, open service areas, vandalism, unsecured equipment or other maintenance issues can all create opportunities for crime.

When appropriate, these observations are documented and reported to the client.

5. Anything That Doesn’t Look Right

Security officers learn to pay attention to the unusual.

Sometimes it’s a door that is normally closed but isn’t. A vehicle that has been sitting in the same location. A light that has gone out. Signs that someone has been inside an area they shouldn’t be.

These small observations can be important.

Mobile Patrol Is About More Than Being Seen

A visible security vehicle is a deterrent—but effective mobile patrol goes further.

At Ten23 Security, our officers physically attend the property, inspect the surroundings and document relevant observations. The objective is simple: provide a visible security presence while identifying problems before they escalate.

For property managers, condo boards and commercial property owners, that means knowing someone is actually checking the property—not simply driving past it.
