What Deer Ridge Can Teach Us About Home Security

A recent series of residential break-and-enters in the Deer Ridge area is a reminder that home security starts before someone gets through the door.

On August 15, 2026, WRPS investigated break-and-enters in Deer Ridge and Newbury Drive. Investigators were also looking for information about a person seen photographing homes and yards in the area.

It raises an important question for homeowners:

What might someone notice about your home before deciding it is worth approaching?

My thoughts: Unfortunately we are living in challenging and desperate times (for some). Thieves and opportunists want your stuff ! Cameras, alarms and good locks are important layers of protection. But awareness, visibility and an active security presence can add another layer.
